Nance Lee Mosquera - Benefits Manager and Former Director of Underwriting
Presented by a former underwriter, this workshop is geared to HR benefit professionals who want to better understand the process of rate renewal. Learn how claim experience is used, projected and trended. Discover the long-term impact that catastrophic claims can have on your plan and find out if a low increase is a good thing, or whether it indicates that the insurer is making a lot of money on your company’s experience. Find out how variables such as employee turnover, benefit plan changes and contribution levels can affect renewal rates. Appropriate for both self-funded and fully insured health and welfare plans. About our speaker: Nance Lee has been the benefits manager at G&K Services for five years. Previously, she spent 13 years in the insurance industry, where her roles ranged from medically underwriting individual applications to managing regional books of business as director of Underwriting at United HealthGroup. Ms. Mosquera has underwritten all sizes and types of group health plans, including UHG's plan. Additionally, she developed and taught a Basics of Underwriting course which became a requirement for all new sales executives hired into the organization. Ms. Mosquera currently serves on a Minnesota State Subcommittee for Health Reform, working to define a “basket of care” for obstetrics. She is also actively involved with the Business Health Care Action Group, which is a leading innovator and agent of change for large self insured employers headquartered in Minnesota.
